Fertigation

Under the term fertigation refers to a technique that allows fertilisers to be distributed together with irrigation water. This technique became more popular with the spread of micro-irrigation and/or drip irrigationis preferably applied with thelocalised irrigation and/or with the sub-irrigation. It can also be done with other irrigation systems, but for better fertiliser distribution the above systems are preferred.
The distribution of fertilisers in water improves the uptake of nutrients by plants and at the same time makes water use more efficient. In practice, fertigation achieves a synergetic effect between water and fertiliser.
